FAQs

We hear many questions from new and current chiropractic patients. Here are some of the most common questions and answers …

How much does it cost for an exam and treatment?

It depends on the complexity of your problem, your insurance policy coverage and the plan of care the Doctor prescribes for you. A typical new patient exam averages approximately $89. Adjustments range from $47-54 dollars depending on the spinal areas adjusted. However, we are more than happy to check your insurance coverage for you.

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO & HMO, Healthlink Tier 1 / Cigna, Medicare, HCH-City of Springfield, Health Alliances. We accept all major credit cards and have payment plans to help you budget your care.

Does getting adjusted hurt?

Most patients that have never been adjusted are a little nervous at first, but spinal adjustments if performed correctly do not hurt and actually feel good. The audible pop or crack is the release of pressurized gas (Carbon Dioxide) that is released from freeing up stiff, locked joints, similar to opening a soda bottle. Most patients feel almost immediate improvement.

How long does it take to get better?

It will really depend on your condition, how long you have had the problem, any pre-existing arthritis or surgeries, your age and even occupation. Most patients see improvement within the first 1-2 weeks and some respond even quicker. As an experienced Springfield IL chiropractor we practice evidence based treatment and follow the current standards of care based on the latest research. Therefore, your condition is monitored on each visit and re-evaluations are conducted every 2-4 weeks. We want you to get well as soon as possible and will refer or work with other health care providers if you are not progressing in a timely manner.

Do chiropractors keep you coming forever?

The short answer is no. Our patients typically come to us in pain and want to get some relief. However, after experiencing the benefits of chiropractic adjustments and understanding that good health is dependent upon a normally functioning nervous system, they can elect to see us periodically for tune-up or maintenance/ wellness care.

Most patients will be treated actively and released from treatment. They have the opportunity to see us as needed or some elect to receive monthly or quarterly adjustments. A good analogy is periodic dental cleanings or periodic visits to your family physician. Most people will have a lifelong dentist and MD. It is the same with getting a good trusting relationship with a chiropractic physician. When we have reached your goals you will be released.

Do I need anything besides adjustments?

That is a good question. In addition to adjustments, our clinic recommends and encourages that patients perform some type of exercise. We employ a physical therapist and each of our Chiropractors have extensive training in rehabilitation. We also offer the gold standard in soft tissue treatment with Active Release Techniques (ART), and Graston instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization.

We have two massage therapist on staff with over 20 years of experience. By combining adjustments (joint work), soft tissue release (myofascial release) and exercises along with diet and nutritional modifications (not to mention Acupuncture), we feel that we can offer some of the best conservative treatment approaches for neuromusculoskeletal complaints.
