Steve Washburn

Steve moved to Springfield to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant after he graduated from Lake Land College in Mattoon. He joined the staff of Advanced Center For Pain And Rehab in 2015.

Steve became interested in physical therapy after years of playing ice hockey landed him into therapy. As a previous PT patient, he is able to empathize with his patients while providing a knowledgeable and caring environment. His goal is to reduce pain and improve function while providing patients information to improve their overall health and wellness.

He recently earned qualification as a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Combined with his experience in physical therapy that includes skills learned from the Prague School to Athletic Development, Steve brings a highly qualified approach that bridges the gap between rehab and the return to athletic performance. The treatment goes beyond addressing the patient’s pain. It improves function, enhances durability and performance, increases self-efficacy and achieves patient- and athlete-centered results.

Steve also is certified with the Titleist Performance Institute. The TPI certification qualifies him to screen golfers for physical limitations and design exercises to work on their swing mechanics to improve their game and reduce injury risk.

Steve is married, and his interests include sports science, rehabilitation and manual therapies. In his free time, he enjoys activities such as kayaking, surfing and hockey.
